Ode to the Organ with ASO
Dell Hall
8:00 PM - 10:30 PM
Organist phenom Cameron Carpenter has his debut with the ASO performing pieces by Joseph Jongen and Camille Saint-Saëns. The Jongen “is a tour de force, considered by many to be among the greatest works ever written for organ and orchestra.” The evening concludes with Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 in C Minor. Saint-Saëns said this about the piece, “I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again.” After the death of his friend Franz Liszt on July 31, 1886, Saint-Saëns dedicated the work to Liszt’s memory.

Still want more? How about playing on some string instruments provided by our friends at Violins Etc.? We also have a wonderful pre-concert talk given by Bob Buckalew at 7:10 pm. How about “tweeting” with our musicians and ASO staff? Take a photo in front of our photo wall. The Austin Symphony has “Something for Everyone!”
